Swansea Bay - the birthplace of writer Dylan Thomas, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams, World Class Surfer Carwyn Williams and doorway to the the Gower Peninsular - the first U.K.area to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. With excellent beaches and reefs facing all points of a compass this area has some the most consistent all year round surf in Wales.
Swansea will have Europe's first indoor surfing centre at the city's revitalised leisure centre.
The plans were unveiled by Chris Holley, Swansea Council Leader, and form the centrepiece of the £25 million project to re-open Swansea Leisure Centre in 2008.
The Surf stream will provide the perfect waves all-day every day for body-boarders and surfers.
"We are transforming the pool area into a 21st century water park with a network of pools, slides and waves for people of all ages.
Standing alongside the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea will have a new cultural and leisure hub attracting more than one million visitors a year."
