There is good surf nearby for both learners and more experienced riders at most times of the year. The beach at Rhossili is vast and gently shelving and is best on a moderate swell with a South to East wind. Only a short walk from Rhossili, there are a number of classic reefs (see Wavesearch /Where to surf) which are best in more Northerly winds.
Much of the countryside here is managed by the National Trust. The Gower Peninsula the first place in the U.K to be recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Not for
the feint hearted, with a long walk across a tidal causeway, the Outer
Head needs all things perfect- low tide neaps, north to north easterly
winds and a clean swell. The effort is justified by some awesome waves.
