Fistral , is probably the most famous surfing beach in the U.K. with consistently bigger surf than many other places in Cornwall. Newquay has a variety of bays:Towan and Great Western in Newquay are sheltered from south and south west winds.There are more surf shops, surf schools and of course surfers here than anywhere else in th U.K . The nightlife is often as intense as the surfing. If you need accommodation try Matt's Surf Lodge -there's comfortable bunk accomodation (from £35-£45 per week), music, internet , video, no curfew and a real surf atmosphere. South Fistral is only about 5 minutes walk away.
